My Dreamforce 14 Plans

Dreamforce is less than one week away and there will be plenty of fun to be had, knowledge to be acquired, and people to meet.  In this post, I highlight key parts of my schedule for Dreamforce 2014.

Sessions

The technical sessions at last year’s Dreamforce were outstanding.  This year I’ve loaded up on technical sessions again.  There are many technical sessions, but I’ve specifically targeted sessions about technology that will be new as of Dreamforce.  All of my sessions are in Moscone West (home to the Dev Zone).  I know that the sessions are recorded, but I still bring a notebook and pen and my laptop to the sessions to jot down information or any new ideas I might have, to review after Dreamforce.  In between sessions, I plan on occupying the Dev Zone, hanging out with @MyForceDotCom, chatting with other developers about the sessions and tech, and relaxing on some beanbag chairs (hopefully!).

I plan on attending many of the Keynotes.  Last year the Developer Keynote was amazing and I am, once again, looking forward to it the most.

The Connected Devices Lab was great last year and I wish I had spent more time there.  With the exponential growth of the Internet of Things, I’m sure it will be even more amazing this year and I plan on spending a lot more time there this year.

Salesforce Stack Exchange

Last year we had a Salesforce Stack Exchange breakfast at Mel’s Diner which was great.  This year there’s another one scheduled for Wednesday morning, organized officially by Daniel Hoechst (thanks!).  As of this writing there are 22 people coming and there are still spots available.  This is one of the things that I am most looking forward to doing.  It will be great to be able to meet other members of the SFSE community face to face.

DevTalks

FinancialForce is hosting their DevTalks on Wednesday and the subject is the ApexMocks framework, presented by Jesse Altman.  Jesse is a very good presenter and having the ability to mock everything in unit tests is something that I would love to see go mainstream (adopted into the platform, hopefully!!!).  I am really looking forward to hearing more about it.  I attended a FinancialForce DevTalks meetup the night before the first day of the MVP summit this past June and it was outstanding.  I’m sure this one will be, too.

Events/Parties

There is an MVP event on Monday night that will be fabulous.  I was fortunate to attend the MVP Summit in June and meet some of the most amazing people.  I look forward to seeing them again and meeting the new MVPs. My company, Trifecta, is having its private party on Monday night as well.  Luckily my company’s party goes a bit later, so I’ll still be able to attend it, being fashionably late.

After Dreamforce

Based on the sessions I’m attending, I’ve outlined some topics that I want to share with the rest of my co-workers that aren’t going to Dreamforce.  I plan on working with my co-workers that are attending to present knowledge transfer sessions soon after we return.  I am very grateful to Trifecta for sending me again this year.

Where to Find Me

I haven’t posted my agenda, because it will definitely change as I will tweak it up until the last minute.  Also, so much happens that I know that I will be very flexible and likely end up attending sessions I notice as I pass by them or as other developers recommend them to me.  Still, it is a sure bet that you’ll be able to find me in Moscone West at many points each day.  My company has a booth in Moscone South, so I might be there as well.

Safe travels to all and can’t wait to see you in a few days!

  1. I thought I read somewhere you have a developers breakfast during Dreamforce. Are you still doing that this year or have you had it already? I would love to attend if you are.

  2. I have AES256 , base64 encrypted data:

    And Decryption Key:

    So the Decrypted output:

So the encryption is being done in java. I am unable to decrpyt in Apex !!! Please help me out .
